Headmaster is a VR soccer game in which you must complete a series of challenges based on heading a ball. This minimalist game uses only your VR headset to determine the direction and power of your movements. As the game progresses, you'll face harder and stranger challenges.
Welcome to soccer jail
In Headmaster, your character is trapped in the Football Improvement Centre, a kind of sports academy prison which you must escape by completing the game's challenges. This vein of dark, absurd Portal-style humour runs throughout the game. Each challenge features a different obstacle, ranging from the obvious, like a goalie defending the goal, to the bizarre, like exploding balls or a giant-sized game of beer pong. Despite its silly themes, this game is quite challenging; the heading requires precise coordination and it can sometimes seem like imprecise tracking introduces an element of luck.
A simple premise; a unique game
Simply based on the premise, Headmaster sounds like a typical VR sports game, but its combination of varied challenges and dark humour leads to a game that's surprisingly compelling -- if sometimes frustratingly difficult. If you're in the mood for something a little different, it's worth a look.
